Thursday, July 3rd

WOW, what an incredible ending to a fantastic week! The day once again started early as a van packed full (16 people!) headed to the orphanage at 7:00 to start finishing up the construction work there. The rest of the group arrived around 8:15 and we did one last day of VBS with the kids. Around noon, we went to the church of a pastor named Felipe. This church was in the middle of a very poor colonial. When we first got there, Evan led the people in a few worship songs (in Spanish of course) and Pastor Felipe preached. Then we had a cookout for a huge group of people from the church and surrounding colonial. We served hamburgers, french fries and water until everyone was fed. After lunch, we handed out the food boxes, one to every family, and played with the kids that were hanging out around the church. We then packed up and headed to another colonial named "Blanco Navidad" ("White Christmas" in English) and passed out the remaining 30 food boxes. Then we went over to the location where the house was built for a family of Felipe's church. Lydia dedicated the house and prayed over it with the help of Anna, our wonderful translator! Finally, we headed back to the orphanage, where we spent what was left of the afternoon playing with the kids one last time. Then we all circled up and dedicated the new rooms. Shaun prayed over the orphanage, and in return Mama Lupita prayed over us. It was incredible to see how much God can do in what seems like so short of a time period! All we have to do is give him our best and completely surrender to his will, and in turn great things happen. After leaving the orphanage we went to Pollos Buenovistas, the famous chicken restaurant we eat at every year. One word: delicious! One stop at the Soriano supermarket and 2 hours of waiting in line at the border later, we arrived back at church around 10:30 for the night. Praise Him for a wonderful week, as God has clearly worked in the lives of so many people not only in Mexico but within our own group as well. Please pray for our safety as we begin the journey home tomorrow morning, we are all very tired!

Thank you so much for all of your prayers and support along the way!

Wednesday, July 2nd

Today was a crazy day and a late night! We accomplished a TON, though. The house construction finished their project today and is ready for the dedication tomorrow. VBS was a great and the orphanage construction team accomplished a lot as well.

Monday, June 30th
Today we went to the colonials and finished all the walls. We started on the roof but its halfway done, we met 4 kids.

Their names were Danny, Jasmine, Rudy, and something i cant pronounce in Spanish. We gave them water and Bibles in Spanish; we played games and had a translator who would talk to them for us. They all pointed to were the church was they said they knew Jesus.
-Lydia Phillips, House Construction

Today at the orphange we started VBS. All went well and everyone did their job to perfection! The kids greatly enjoyed seeing all of us and continued to ask if we were coming back tomorrow. The construction team at the orphange continued to work by painting, scraping ceilings, wiring, and doing other things to the rooms which they are building for the kids. All in all, today went very well and i can't wait to go back and see the kids smiling faces again tomorrow.

Sunday, June 29th

Today on the house building team, we accomplished a ton. We were able to finish the floor and put up the two side walls. God blessed us with an extremely nice breeze and a semi cloudy sky later in the day, about the time when it would normally be unbearably hot. We hope to have the house fully complete by Wednesday so we can get to the orphanage Thursday morning before handing out food boxes.

Today a small team went out to get a little work done on the ophanage. We did some painting and some wood cutting. We got alot more then we thought we would, so it should be a great week ahead we are going to have a great turn out stay tune and find out

Today at Primer Iglesia, we got the chance to hear a bilingual sermon and worship service. It was a great experience to see how worshipping and praising God is truly the same in every language. We got to enjoy some of their music, as well as share our praise band with them. After the evening service we had a cook -out for the members of the church, and got to chill with them and tell stories. Overall today was really fun, my favorite parts were watching the ping-pong tournaments, playing patty-cake, and singing Shout to the Lord in Spanish.

As you can see, many different things went on today. 12 paople worked on construction at the orphanage, 9 people worked on the house construction, and the rest stayed back at the church where they prepared for tomorrow's activities, went to church, and varnished 96 boards to be used for construction at the orphanage tomorrow! Much was accoplished, but we've only begun scraping the surface. Please pray that the rest of the week will go just as smoothly as God continues to work in incredible ways!

VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE!!!!!

Saturday, June 28th

Last night almost everybody went right to sleep.  Everything went smoothly until the big bus blew two tires.  We then had to double up on the short bus and leave the big bus and a few of its passengers to wait and help replace both tires, this of course delayed our trip.  We just chilled after breakfast at the rest stop until we got word that the big bus's tires were fixed and they were on their way.  The people who doubled up drove on to "the land of milk and honey" (buc-ee's!) to eat lunch and wait for everybody.  The rest of the day went well besides the air conditioning.

Last night I was sooo tired but I never really got to go to sleep till like 3:00 AM.  But the bus ride was pretty fun, and very very long.  But I am actually happy that we drove all the way through instead of stopping for the night because I was very eager to get here.  As soon as we got here we unloaded all of the bags and set up the air mattresses and everyone is exhausted!!  But I am very excited to be here and I can't wait until we go to the orphanage and I get to play with all the little kids.
